Self Portrait

The image shown here, my self portrait, now shows a darkened ground to enhance the features.

The next landscapes inspired by places I have been .

This work uses fabric, plaster, text and maps with acrylic paint, pencil over the top.
These landscapes are inspired by places I have visited. They are part of a series of works exploring colour, texture, light using mixed media.

A place I have been!

The first in a series of 20 paintings! This is  a landscape showing a place I have visited. In my previous blog I published images showing the layers, mainly for texture I have used - well today I could not wait any longer so painted this one. It shows a costal cliff-top view of a place I have visited. It is painted on MDF board and I may choose to frame it in a simple but soft coloured wooden frame.

20 Landscapes Project.

Here are some images of the base collage work for my next project. I am creating 20 Landscapes which will be completely experimental. The outcomes are pre- determined and I hope will evolved into something very new. These images so far use maps of England, text, plaster, bird seed, fabric , string, wall paper, card and other scraps.

Next I want to add imagery such as tree branches collages into various space or other implied textures before working with mixed media colour on top!

Glaze glaze

By adding lots of glazes of thin colour I hope to build a rich colour on this portrait.

Tint and varnish.

I have started to experiment with colour on my self portrait. The skin colour and background are coloured.
It is not proving easy to get a even colour on the image even with a special medium but the colour seems to have the desired effect.
